South African Macadamia Bobotie

Classic Cape Malay spiced beef baked with egg custard, elevated by toasted macadamias.

Ingredients

  • 400g minced beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped macadamias
  • 2 slices bread, soaked
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Serves 2–4 · adjust quantities to taste

Preparation

  1. 1Cook onion and beef with curry powder.
  2. 2Add soaked bread and macadamias; transfer to dish.
  3. 3Pour egg mixture on top; bake at 180 °C for 25 min.
